Austin is one of the most endearing cities in the state – if not the country. There are so many wonderful reasons to settle down here but this does not insulate it from tragic vehicle accidents that result in fatalities. What follows are the accounts of several recent accidents in the Austin area.

*A 64 year old female driver allegedly ran a red light recently that ultimately led to her death when she was hit by another vehicle entering the intersection and having the legal right of way. The driver was alone in her car and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries. She became Austin’s 65th vehicle fatality this year – placing the number of deaths statistically at an average of just over one a week.

*A pedestrian walking along a major Austin highway was a victim of a hit-and-run accident that left her in critical condition and clinging to life. Although few concrete facts are currently known about the incident – it is true that several persons called authorities claiming a woman was seen along the highway – moments before a call came in stating that a pedestrian had been hit by a car and was lying in the road.

This person may have been trying to cross the road – at this point authorities are not sure the female referred to in the call and injured pedestrian are the same person.
One fatal accident a week is pretty grim statistics for a great community like Austin. However, with growth comes the reality that more traffic equals more serious injury accidents and wrongful death crashes.

Recent studies have shown that traffic congestion is a leading indicator for the number of serious injury accidents in the community. The more congested the roadways more likely a high number of car wrecks.

Many people find themselves in a serious injury car wreck for the first time ever and don’t know what to do next. I always recommend that a injury victim seek out the best personal injury attorney they can find for a free consultation.
